Isn't it enchanting? I finally used a gift card I got for my birthday to buy this movie. It may be a bit cheesy, but I absolutely adore it. I love all the references to classic Disney movies. I miss the old classic Disney's and this was a wonderful return to their goodness. My favorite scene is the song in the park.Monday, March 31, 2008

60 Degrees
Can I just say it was a beautiful day today and I couldn't get enough of it? Ginny, Aine and I decided to take advantage of it and go for a walk to Memory Grove. Sorry, didn't take the camera so we don't have any pictures.

A Tribute to My Mom

Last night my little Aine got herself worked up into one of her crying fits. It was the kind that just doesn't stop until she has completely worn herself out and falls asleep in exhaustion. During this time I kept whisper in her ear that everything was going to be okay and that she was alright. It made me think of my mom and when she's told me that everything would be okay in times when I was distressed. I thought especially of Monday evening when I was in the middle of the contractions and feeling the worst pain I had ever felt in my life. During the pain I would tell my mom that I couldn't do it and she would hold my hand and tell me that I could. She would tell me that everything was going to be okay and to take control. Having my mom there in the room with me was what gave me the strength to close my eyes, breath and work through each contraction until I could be saved by the epideral. She was the one who empowered me that night.

I am greatful to her and my dad for sticking it through the whole long night and into early Tuesday morning. They waited so patiently for the arrival of our Aine.
It is true when they say that you don't fully appreciate your mom until you become one. I am greatful for how many times I have been strenghtened and empowered by my mom's assurance that everything will be okay. I am humbled with the responsibity of following in her footsteps and giving that same strength to my daughter throughout her life. How greatful I am to have the inspiring example of my mom.

Passing of President Gordon B. Hinckley
Faith and I had the opportunity like most of you to watch Pres. Hinckley's funeral today. It was neat to hear the comments from church leaders about what a great man he was, how dedicated he was to the Lords work and what a great sense of humor he had. I also enjoyed listening to one of his daughters who spoke on how great of a father and example he was to his family. After the funeral we watched on TV a whole line of cars follow Pres. Hinckley's casket from the Conference Center to the Salt Lake Cemetery. Along the way on South Temple people both old and young waved their white hankerchefs bidding our prophet a final farewell.I would like to share my personal testimony that I know that Pres. Hinckley was a true prophet that he was called from God to serve and lead the church in these latter days. He counciled us to do the very best we can in life and stand a little taller. I think we all as members of the church will miss this great man and the great example he set for all us. God be with you til we meet again.

Snow
Beclouded
The sky is low, the clouds are mean,
A travelling flake of snow
Across a barn or through a rut
Debates if it will go. A narrow wind complains all day
How some one treated him;
Nature, like us, is sometimes caught
Without her diadem.
Emily Dickinson
Charity and I were discussing how our blogs can get mundane, so we thought of a little challenge to help one another put more thought into it.
Today's challenge: Write about snow; your feelings about it, likes/dislikes, memories, etc.

Monday's snow storm was incredible. I walked from school to work and I could see blue skies to the west and threatening, black clouds in the north and east. I got to work a little after 10 am and that was the only signs of a coming storm we had. Five minutes later I was looking out the window with my co-workers and discussing how ominous the skies looked. Only a minute later we were in the middle of a white-out. I thank Heavenly Father for holding off the storm long enough for me to get safe inside.
With all the walking I have been doing downtown I have had a lot of opportunities to walk in the fresh fallen snow. There was one morning I remember especially when the fresh fallen snow was coating the trees of City Creek Park. Everything looked so white and pure. It was so peaceful. When I got to work everyone was talking about the trouble they had commuting in the snow and all I had to say was my "commute" was beautiful.
